Aquatics
Our aquatics program is run by a certified Water Safety Instructor/Lifeguard.  Our lifeguards are all 18+ years old and certified by the American Red Cross.  Our Olympic size pool has 3 separate swimming areas; a shallow, middle and deep end.  The deep end boasts a large dock located in the center of the pool and a water slide.  The shallow and middle areas are designated with colored wristbands.  All campers must pass a deep water test in order to swim in the deep end of the pool.
Schedule
We run a 7 period structured schedule consisting of a combination of 2 swim periods and any of the activities listed above.

Sample schedule:
  • 1st Period: Kickball
  • 2nd period: swim instruction
  • 3rd Period: Arts and Crafts
  • 4th Period: Lunch
  • 5th period: newcomb
  • 6th period: soccer
  • snack
  • 7th period: General Swim

Dance/Drama/Hat Masquerade
Each summer the girls put on a dance show for the camp.  During their dance periods, the girls are taught group dances that they will perform in the dance show.

We also put on a scaled-down performance of a Broadway show.  Those boys and girls who are interested, will audition with our drama instructor to land a part in the play.  They will practice during drama lessons to prepare for the final production.

The Hat Masquerade is a tradition at Camp Floradan.  Each group will learn a skit or dance created by the counselors and will make hats in arts and crafts to coincide with their theme.  Some groups even choose to wear fun costumes for their performance.
